Crisis Care Kits

This section highlights key projects, showcasing creativity, expertise, and the value delivered through our work.

About Crisis Care Kits

Nazarene Missions International (NMI) has a legacy of hands-on participation. It was this rich heritage that resulted in the founding of NMI more than 100 years ago.

The passion to be directly involved in missions fostered the partnership between Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) and NMI, resulting in the ministry of Crisis Care Kits. These kits provide basic necessities to those who are displaced following a disaster. Thousands of Crisis Care Kits are made, stored, and distributed globally each year as needs inevitably arise around the world—such as to support refugees fleeing Ukraine due to the ongoing conflict.

WAPAC Goal for 2025 District Assembly

Crisis Care Kits are needed now more than ever.  (Think California wildfires!) More supplies are needed for future emergencies to replenish our used kits.

WAPAC will be collecting Crisis Care Kits at 2025 District Assembly. Our district goal is 600 kits (that’s 100 banana boxes, each with 6 kits). If each church can contribute at least 1-2 boxes of kits, we can easily meet this target. More is a bonus! Please bring these kits to District Assembly; we have arranged transportation to our regional warehouse.

Packing Instructions – Updated for 2025!

The packing list for Crisis Care Kits changed this year. View/download current CCK instructions using the button below. There are new additions to the supplies this year to our kits so read the list carefully. Please remember that adherence to these directions is required (nothing more, nothing less!); kits that do not conform cannot be used due to customs requirements.

Local NMI President’s Role with Crisis Care Kits

1. Obtain banana boxes from your local grocery store. We only ship kits in banana boxes, as they provide uniformity and eliminate wasted space.

2. Cut the heavy brown paper (normally found in the banana box) in half. Please one half inside the bottom of the box; take the other half over the whole in the lid. (Plain cardboard may also be used.)

3. Work with your church to pack your Crisis Care Kits.

4. Verify the exact contents of your church’s CCKs!

5. Fill each box with EXACTLY 6 kits. Do no insert money, literature or any other item. No notes, no reference to your church, etc., in the kits or banana boxes.Using strong packing tape, cover all the holes in the top and the bottom of the box. Be sure to the leave box handles open for easy loading/unloading. DO NOT tape the box shut!

6. Mail a check—payable to Global Treasury Services, Church of the Nazarene—in the amount of $16.00 per banana box! This is for storage and shipping costs during the distribution process. When you send in your check, include the name and address of your church; Ten Percent Credit will be allowed for the $16 shipping donation only. Mark the check “Crisis Care Kit Shipments 140002” and mail to: Church of the Nazarene, 17001 Prairie Star Parkway, Lenexa, KS 66220-7900, Attn. Donor Services.

7. Bring the banana boxes with Crisis Care Kits with you to District Assembly! We have arranged transportation to our regional warehouse.
